About the Role

FZTA is hiring an experienced and results-driven Director of Academics on behalf of a leading US-based EdTech client.

Our client is building an innovative education model focused on accelerating student learning through AI, learning science, technology and mastery-based education.

We are looking for a senior academic leader who can transform academic vision into measurable results, lead senior academic teams, establish high academic standards and drive educational excellence at scale.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an individual who combines academic expertise, strategic thinking, technology awareness and strong execution capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Own and execute the overall academic strategy and vision.

Develop academic frameworks based on learning science and measurable student outcomes.

Lead, mentor and develop Heads of Academics and senior academic leaders.

Establish academic standards, KPIs, performance expectations and accountability systems.

Review academic performance across teams, programs and learning models.

Analyse student data, assessments, feedback and observations to identify learning gaps.

Design and implement evidence-based interventions to improve student learning outcomes.

Collaborate with product and technology teams on AI-enabled learning products, content and workflows.

Drive strategic alignment through planning, feedback loops and milestone tracking.

Build scalable academic systems, processes, and operating standards.

Ensure consistency and quality across academic programs and learning experiences.

Identify opportunities to improve curriculum effectiveness, teaching methodologies and student engagement.

Represent the client at conferences, education forums, keynote events and meetings with senior education stakeholders.

Act as a senior public-facing academic leader and advocate for evidence-based, technology-enabled education.

Candidate Requirements

7+ years of experience in academic leadership, EdTech, curriculum, learning products, education or a related field.

Proven experience managing multiple academic teams or senior academic leaders.

Strong track record of improving academic performance, curriculum quality, student outcomes or learning-product effectiveness.

Experience establishing academic standards, performance systems, KPIs and accountability frameworks.

Strong understanding of learning science, curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment.

Hands-on experience with AI-enabled education, AI workflows, digital learning or AI-powered products.

Excellent leadership, communication, strategic thinking and decision-making skills.

Ability to combine academic judgment with data-driven execution.

Strong stakeholder-management and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with cross-functional academic, product, technology and operations teams.

Advanced degree in Education, Learning Science, Educational Leadership, Curriculum, Cognitive Science or a related field is preferred.

Exceptional leadership and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
